The Gatherer

The wager of the gatherer is that there will be a winter worth surviving. So the hands keep moving, collecting, storing, preserving while the mind is relieved of asking what all this abundance is meant to become. To gather is an act of faith, but it is also an admission of fear. Most of us never learn to distinguish between the two.
